Resumo

The aim of this article is to present a systematic review, which it seeks to infer how the national and international scenario is shown regarding the adoption of the Meaningful Learning Theory (MLT) in teaching and learning of Mathematics in Basic Education. With a view to the objective, the research is bibliographic and followed the outline of the Methodi Ordinatio. The bases consulted in the data survey were: Scopus, Scielo, Web Of Science, Science Direct and the Capes Journal Portal. The results show that the term “meaningful learning” is adopted widely as to indicate successful learning and without a theoretical basis to support it. Thus, there is a need for more work to be developed in Basic Education aimed at teaching and learning Mathematics considering the principles of MLT.
