Resumo

This article is an excerpt from a dissertation that aimed to analyze the perceptions of educators who teach mathematics in rural schools in the municipality of Parauapebas, Brazil, regarding the Pedagogical Principles of Rural Education. The research is qualitative in nature; we initially investigated educational documents focused on rural education, followed by semi-structured interviews with teachers. We used Discursive Textual Analysis to analyze the interview data. The results revealed that rural educators recognize the importance of contextualizing mathematics content in the classroom and value the local knowledge, experiences, and insights of rural communities.
