Uma história da formação de professores no curso de licenciatura em Matemática da Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei (2001-2019)

Resumo

This work presents a history of the formation of Mathematics teachers of the degree in Mathematics at the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ). The period of analysis begins in 2001 – the year the graduation was founded – and runs until 2019. Supported by the conceptions of Oral History, the research is part of the project Mapping the Formation and Performance of Teachers who Teach/Taught Mathematics in Brazil , conducted by the research group Oral History and Mathematics Education, Ghoem. Interviews were carried out with twenty people, including former students and professors who were part of the routine of the degree in Mathematics at UFSJ in some period of our time frame – thirteen individual and one collective. Likewise, sources for this thesis were: institutional documents from the University itself, documents from other institutions and a textualization produced for another research. The collation of the various mobilized sources resulted in the historical narrative that we produce throughout the pages that follow. As a result, we identified that the course went through three phases: the first, between 2001 and 2006, was marked as a period of great difficulties due to the recent creation of the degree and the lack of professors; the second phase took place between 2007 and 2012, when the course was restructured with the help of a Federal Government program to expand federal universities and due to the increase in professors willing to contribute to the course; and, finally, the third phase marked the search for new objectives of a graduation with a certain structure, with staff willing to work and with some years of experience. In addition, our analyzes also led us to understand: the political motivations for the creation of UFSJ and the institution that gave rise to it; the economic, cultural and higher education importance of UFSJ for São João del-Rei; and the importance of the Reuni program for the turnaround in the Mathematics course at UFSJ.
