Resumo
In this chapter we first address the notion of mathematical heritage in light of the concept of praxeology as developed in the Anthropological Theory of Didactics. We then examine the possibilities for didactic transposition and instrumentalization of artifacts and praxeologies of production and use of elements from the cultural heritage of Mayotte. Four major components of Mayotte’s mathematical heritage are described and analyzed: language, crafts, architecture, and traditional games. The analyses lead to the identification of generic and specific types of mathematical tasks that have been tested in classrooms ranging from kindergarten to master’s level.
