Resumo
This study analyzed the strategies used by a sugarcane worker to determine the remuneration of a sugarcane cutter, considering his roles as cutter, overseer, and inspector. The objective was to understand and explain his perceptions through cell phone-recorded interviews about his professional trajectory, which characterizes a qualitative case study. As a result, the adoption of unusual methods was observed, such as transforming triangles into rectangles and decomposing the area of land with elevations, without resorting to procedures taught in school. The interaction between the overseer, the inspector, and the cutters in measuring the areas reveals conflicts related to benefits and losses, demonstrating an awareness of the need to avoid social injustices.
