Resumo

The teaching practice in Health lacks training the professionals on their practice. This pedagogical deficiency in the academic career can undermine the teaching-learning process in the health area. The teacher is seen as the holder of technical knowledge and a transmitter of content, focusing only on theoretical and practical knowledge of their training. Thus, it is necessary to raise awareness of physical therapist faculty about the importance of pedagogical training to teach in Physical Therapy courses, incorporating in their teaching practice innovative and facilitating methodologies, favoring student learning. Objective: To identify the main challenges that unlicensed professors encountered in teaching Health Sciences for the Physiotherapy course. Method: this is an exploratory and descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, using interviews with professors of Physiotherapy courses at Higher Education institutions in the city of Cascavel/Paraná as a data collection tool. Results: Despite having experience in teaching, the interviewed teachers reported having difficulties in their teaching practice, especially in relation to the application of teaching methods and student assessment. All of them understand the importance of professional bachelor training for the teaching profession. Conclusion: From the perspective of teachers, all intend to continue ensuring quality academic and professional training, but they will have to adapt to new teaching proposals and technologies. All stated that, even with years of experience in teaching, they still experience difficulties in applying new teaching methodologies and multimedia technologies. They agree that it will be the most frequent challenge to be faced in teaching practice.
