Resumo
This study aimed to map scientific articles discussing Mathematics, Sustainability, and Environmental Education, with an emphasis on those that focused on teacher education. The research has a qualitative approach, using Biembengut (2008) as a reference for mapping. The quest was conducted in the journal portal of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), limiting the selection to papers issued from 2014 through 2023. A total of 30 studies were selected and classified into the following groups: Teacher Education; Final Years of Elementary School; and High School. This study presents the main considerations outlined by the authors of the 11 studies that approach the theme of teacher education. The research results highlight the relevance of interdisciplinarity in the teaching and learning process, as it diversifies teacher training and enriches student learning by bringing them closer to reality and fostering critical thinking, which is essential for dealing with socio-environmental issues. The integration of environmental themes into the mathematics curriculum is crucial to equipping teachers to educate conscious and responsible citizens. Additionally, innovative pedagogical practices, such as the use of technology, field trips, and project development, promote closer connection to contemporary social needs.
