Resumo
This article aims to link Paulo Freire’s political-pedagogical thinking to the aspects that underlie Mathematics Education. For this investigation, Paulo Freire’s Education as a Practice of Freedom, the Pedagogy of the Oppressed, and the Pedagogy of Autonomy were used as a basis, in contrast to the assumptions of Mathematics Education, Critical Mathematics Education, Ethnomathematics, and contemporary research that deal with the training of mathematics teachers under the thinking of Paulo Freire and Mathematics Education. The richness of the proposed theme resonates as a contribution to the emerging and necessary discussion of the theoretical debate between Freirean thought and Mathematical Education, based on the interweaving of its historicities.
