Resumo
Outdoor-based mathematics offers meaningful opportunities to connect abstract concepts with students' real-world experiences. This study explores the characteristics and development of outdoor learning mathematics within the context of "Putri Pinang Masak" park Jambi, guided by the principles of the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach. It employed development study design with preliminary and formative evaluation stages. The formative stage consists of self-evaluation, expert reviews and one to one, small group, and field tests. Five contextualized tasks were developed and validated using Aiken's index, yielding a result of 0.89, indicating high validity. Practicality was confirmed through positive feedback from teachers and students during the one-to-one, small group, and field test stages. Analysis of students' responses using the rubric for problem solving and mathematical thinking showed that 76.7% of student achieved moderate to high levels of problem solving, while 23.3% demonstrated structured mathematical reasoning. The math trail activities engaged students in all four aspects of problem solving according to Polya. Beyond its potential impact, the finding provides empirical evidence of how integrating a local tourism context enhances engagement and reasoning in mathematics learning. The Study also contributes to curriculum development, suggesting that embedding local culture and environmental contexts into mathematics instruction supports Indonesia's national vision for contextual, participatory, and sustainable education.
