Resumo

In this article, the authors share a framework to approach the integration of coding in elementary-level mathematics instruction. The authors named their curriculum development framework "See, Anchor, and Frame" because they found that visualizations ("See"), anchor ideas ("Anchor"), and intentional framing of interdisciplinary content ("Frame") are simple yet powerful ways to approach integration between mathematics and computer science. The article begins with a vignette that illustrates the framework in one fifth-grade lesson about multiplying fractions. That vignette explains the "See, Anchor, and Frame" components. The authors present examples from their exponents and geometry lessons and links to the integrated mathematics-coding units and programming environments.
