Resumo
This article aims to identify and analyze the contributions of chess to Mathematics teaching based on studies selected from the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Catalog, within the time frame from 2020 to 2026. The study is characterized as a bibliographic review from the perspective of qualitative metasynthesis, using as its corpus eighteen dissertations classified as included or partially included, since, at the time of the search, no doctoral theses meeting the descriptors, time frame, and inclusion criteria were found. The analysis considered the relationship of the studies with chess, Mathematics teaching, problem solving, logical-mathematical reasoning, and the learning of mathematical concepts, organizing the findings into thematic categories. The results show that chess contributes to the development of logical reasoning, concentration, decision-making, autonomy, motivation, and strategy building, as well as supporting the learning of contents such as combinatorial analysis, geometry, the Cartesian plane, probability, percentage, and mathematical logic. The analyzed studies further suggest that pedagogical mediation and the teacher's intentionality are conditions for the game to become a teaching resource. It is concluded that chess has pedagogical potential when integrated into curricular objectives, didactic sequences, and teacher-mediated practices, and should not be understood as an automatic solution to learning difficulties.
